Woman's body floating in Kallang River in another mysterious death in river-side estate

The woman who was in her 60s was produced dead at the scene by the paramedics.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said on Monday morning that the body of an elderly woman was found floating in the Kallang River in the Central Region of the city. The body has been retrieved but the cause of death is still unknown.

It is also reported that Singapore police has ordered a probe into the matter and officers are closely investigating the cause of death. SCDF said that they were alerted about the incident at around 7.10am. Officials quickly rushed to the spot and found the dead body floating in the river near Block 38A Bendemeer Road, reported Channel News Asia.

The woman who was in her 60s was declared dead at the scene by the paramedics. Residents of the area also informed the police that many elderly people live in the river side estate and there have been two cases of suicide in the past few months.
