Malaysian authorities have found the body of a male youth from the lake at Logan Bunut National Park in northern Sarawak after two Nigerian students went missing when a boat ferrying a group of private university students capsized on Sunday.

There were seven people, including five students from Curtin University Sarawak, a local tour guide and the boat's skipper, on board when the vessel capsized, but five students, including the skipper were saved after the accident.

Reports said the team was conducting observation and research on wildlife in the lake that is located at a distance of about five hours by boat from the town of Marudi.

The Malay Mail reported that a passing boatman witnessed the accident and informed the park manager who immediately sent a rescue team of five people. Initially, it was said that six students had been on board the boat.

Lee Kim Shin, Sarawak assistant tourism minister, said the management of Curtin University Sarawak had informed him that a body has been found in the lake. The information was also confirmed by the Fire and Rescue Department on Monday.

The authorities said the rescue operations will continue with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department and the police to find the other missing person.
