Singapore police arrest 5 men for rioting in Tiong Bahru

According to reports, a man got thrashed by the rioters after a heated argument.

Singapore police arrested 5 alleged miscreants for rioting at Beo Crescent near Havelock Road in Tiong Bahru on August 7. The suspects were nabbed within two hours of the report and were taken into custody.

The news of a middle aged man who got thrashed by a group of men broke on Wednesday (August 10). The Police force followed up the case and acted immediately.

According to reports, a 26-year-old woman claimed that her 30-year-old husband was assaulted by a group of young men after a heated argument in that area, at around 11.10pm.

After probing into the matter, police identified the culprits, aged between 17and 41, and apprehended them. Four of them got arrested at Beo Crescent while the fifth one was arrested at Bukit Batok.

The involvement of these men in the riot is being investigated and if found guilty will face 7 years in jail and can be caned also.
