Firefighters broke into a 12th floor flat at Block 220, Serangoon Avenue 4 on Thursday after a fire broke out in the unit. Fortunately, no one was injured and the fire was doused using one water jet.

According to Straits Times, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted about the fire at around 11.15am. Two fire engines, one Red Rhino, two fire bikes, an ambulance, and one support vehicle were immediately dispatched to tackle the flame, which broke out in the bedroom.

Homeowner Lim Jian (58), who works as a cleaner at the nearby Peicai Secondary School, called his wife Chen Yi Zhu (55) who was shopping at the nearby Nex shopping mall and said he saw thick smoke coming out of the flat. Yi Zhu immediately dialled 995 after confirming with a friend who lives in the adjacent block.

However, the cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed and an investigation has been ordered, said SCDF.
