A Singaporean who has been charged with sexually assaulting his daughter over a period of two years told the court he had undergone a botched-up penis enlargement surgery that made him incapable of having sexual intercourse.

The court was told the man sought medical attention for complications resulting from the procedure just a month before his trial began. The prosecution said the man used to exploit his daughter since 2011, after the girl turned 11, and stopped only after the victim informed her mother in 2014.

During the trial, the accused said that the wrong enlargement procedure, which he underwent in 2009, had left his penis deformed and painful, making intercourse impossible, reported the Channel News Asia. However, the court learnt that he did not seek medical attention until seven years after the surgery.

It was reported that the doctor who examined the accused testified on 23 January that the man showed up at his clinic at Singapore General Hospital in October 2016, a month before his trial began, with a letter from his lawyer. The letter asked the doctor to give an expert opinion if he could have had sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old girl with his dysfunctional penis. The letter also stated that the patient in question had a pending court case.

Dr Lee Fang Jann said that with his deformed penis it would have been difficult to engage in sexual intercourse and it "would require a fair amount of force ... and (would be) painful ... for himself and his partner," said the report. However, the doctor did not rule out the possibility and added that sex would have been possible if lubricants were used. The doctor further said it was difficult to say exactly when he had the surgery done, but estimated to be between September 2015 and April 2016.

The victim told the court that her father used to apply olive oil or her brother's hair gel on her before forcing her to have sex with him. While the prosecutor believes that the father had deliberately undergone an enlargement procedure after the victim accused him of sexual abuse, the defendant said he underwent three enlargement procedures in Johor Baru in 2005, 2007 and 2009, on request of his now estranged wife.

The Singapore court is likely to give the verdict next month.
