An oil spillage has been reported in waters around the East Johor Straits after two container vessels collided late on Tuesday. There are no injuries in the collision and port movement in Singapore has been unaffected.

The collision happened in Pasir Gudang Port, Johor, Malaysia, between a Singapore-registered container vessel and a Gibraltar-registered vessel.

Singapore vessel WAN HAI 301 and Gibraltar-registered container APL DENVER were involved in the mishap, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said.

One of bunker tanks of a vessel was damaged in the clash, resulting in around 300 tonnes of oil spillage.

Singapore's maritime officials said the spillage has been contained off the western side of Pulau Ubin, where some oil patches were spotted. It said an investigation is underway.

"There have been no reports of injury. Traffic in the East Johor Straits and Singapore's port operations remains unaffected, " MPA added.

The Johor Port Authority (JPA) said four anti-pollution craft on site to contain the oil spill, Seatrade reported. Johor authorities also put up an oil boom around the Gibralter vessel APL Denver, which suffered damage in one of its bunker tanks.
