At least three people died in a house fire in Honolulu. 12 others were injured in the blaze on the 26th floor of the 31-storey Marco Polo apartments. The fire burnt through several floors of the 538-unit house. The building was partially evacuated but some people were trapped inside their flats. Firefighters criticized the lack of sprinklers in the apartment complex.
