Thinking of having fun during work? Think twice, especially if you are a cop.

A Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) officer, along with six personnel, has been abruptly transferred to other departments without a notice. Their crime: they were captured having fun at a nightclub, which is also a karaoke lounge.

The video went viral on Facebook, depicting the policemen who are supposedly from Unit 7 of the Muar District Police headquarters. The entertainment centre that they were in is located at Pusat Perniagaan Bakri in Muar.

In the video, released on October 8, a police inspector is seen with a corporal, a detective corporal, and four lance corporals. It was titled "Police personnel entertaining themselves at a nightclub with gambling 'taukeh'.

Following the video's circulation, Johor police chief Mohd Khalil Mohd stated that the men appearing in the video have been transferred with immediate effect after PDRM came to know about the incident. He also added that disciplinary action was taken on these policemen.

"PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) cannot compromise on any disciplinary breach and will act sternly on those involved," he said in a statement on Monday. Khalil commented on a video circulating on Facebook, which claimed that the policemen were "having fun" at an entertainment centre.

Mohamad Fuzi Harun, Inspector-General of Police, stated that he was awaiting a report on this incident from Mohd Khalil. "Investigations will be conducted without protecting any policemen if they are involved in improprieties," he told Bernama.

Fuzi added that the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department at Bukit Aman has been instructed to investigate the incident.

Both Khalil and Fuzi stressed on the importance of upholding the integrity of the PDRM as it is the main law enforcers of Malaysia. As such, any act of indiscipline on their part would be dealt with very strictly.
