Singapore: 17 people injured in accident involving 3 vehicles on AYE

Nearly 17 people have been injured in an accident involving two lorries and a bus on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). The injured passengers were travelling in one of the lorries.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was informed about the accident near the AYE's Clementi Avenue 6 exit, towards the Marina Coastal Expressway, on Thursday morning.

They immediately sent a fire engine, three ambulances and a support vehicle to the scene.

Out of those 17 people, who suffered minor injuries, nine were taken to the National University Hospital, while the rest of them were sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

The Land Transport Authority was the first to inform about the accident on Twitter. They also advised motorists to avoid lane 3 of the expressway.

The authority also warned the commuters about the congestion till the Jurong Town Hall Road exit. The police said investigations are ongoing.
