Overview

Philippines take on Thailand in their final group encounter of 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup in Bulacan on 25 November. The hosts will need a win in Friday's game against the group leaders to knock Singapore and Indonesia, who will be battling in Manila, out of the tournament and join Thailand in the semi-final of the competition.

The Azkals, who were one of the favourites from the group to progress in the tournament, have not been at their menacing best. They started the campaign by playing out a goalless draw against Singapore and almost slipped in the second game against Indonesia but managed to clinch a point after captain Phil Younghusband scored a late equaliser.

Thomas Dooley's side have to buckle up and cannot afford lapses in concentration as the War Elephants, who are among the destructive sides in Southeast Asia, can hurt them.

Coach Thomas Dooley is upbeat about the clash and is confident of his boys putting up their best foot forward against the in-form Thai unit. He also believes that his team can take advantage of their "tired" opponents who, according to him might make a mistake or two.

On the other hand, Kiatisuk Senamuang has rung the warning bells saying his team will go for the kill despite having sealed a semi-final spot.

""If you want to come with us to the next round, you have to beat us tomorrow. That goes for Indonesia and Singapore too, they have to win tomorrow to have any chance," Senamuang said, as quoted by the tournament's official website.

Thailand will look to test their bench strength before they head into the business end of the tournament. However, given their current form the Azkals need a strong effort to see Senamuang's side off on Friday.
