Mansfield announces wrong constituency winner in Oscar moment

The fact that Conservative candidate Ben Bradley won the Mansfield seat after 94 years of Labour rule may have come as a surprise for some. So much of a surprise that initially Labour candidate Sir Alan Meale was declared the winner by acting returning officer Jacqueline Collins. The incident was reminiscent of this years Academy Awards Envelopegate when La La Land was declared winner of Best Picture even though Moonlight had won the acclaimed category.
