Billboard described the album as a dual exploration of the group's electro-pop and hip-hop leanings, fronted by the lead single 'DNA.' BTS also collaborated with American artist The Chainsmokers for one of its track 'Best of Me' from the album. BTS' rappers—Rap Monster, Suga, and J-Hope—along with The Chainsmokers' Andrew Taggart recorded this energetic track in a typical Chainsmokers style.
