VLC users can now experience 360-degree video playback on their desktop computers (Windows and Mac), thanks to the release of VLC 360 via Technical Preview 3.0 version of the software. With the VLC 3.0 update users will be able to easily move the point of view to support 360-degree photos including panorama snapshots.
The new version of VLC app also adds three different modes for 360-degree content: zoom, little planet, and reverse little planet.
Interested users can try out the samples offered with the VLC preview version for both videos and panoramas, before indulging in playback of custom video content from their personal cameras. Although the preview version of VLC 360 may harbour some untested bugs or broken features, VideoLAN is likely to fix all known issues with the upcoming VLC updates or the final release.
