Sony Xperia XZ Premium receives Android 8.0 Oreo with 3D Creator, Predictive Capture and more

Xperia XZ Premium receives all of Sony's native feature in Android 8.0 Oreo on top of Google's improvements and tweaks.

The official Android 8.0 Oreo update has officially been rolled out for Sony Xperia XZ Premium devices alongside all of the software upgrade's new features. Sony Electronics Inc is expected to release a similar update on more Xperia devices like Xperia XZs and Xperia XA1.

Sony on Tuesday started the Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade for Xperia XZ Premium. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) now has four phones running Oreo that include Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia XA1 Plus, which all came out in September with Oreo on board.

Xperia XZ Premium receives all of Sony's native feature in Android 8.0 Oreo on top of Google's improvements and tweaks. As Sony promised, the 3D Creator arrives with the update. This feature first debuted on Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia XZ1, allowing the smartphones to scan any objects and create a 3D render, which can be printed or shared on social media.

The Predictive Capture enables the camera to begin taking shots when it senses a smile even before the user hits the shutter button. Users can then choose from up to four shots.

In addition, the autofocus burst allows users to capture moving subjects with no blurs as much as possible. This delivers sharp focus images.

Sony is also ramping up the sound quality of Xperia XZ Premium, improving the front-facing stereo speakers as well as the Qualcomm aptX HD audio support for better sounds when using wireless headphones. With a revamped App Shortcuts, Xperia XZ Premium has its own way of accessing to actions menus by long pressing the app icon.

Android 8.0 Oreo should come in stages across the world. In the meantime, more devices are expected to receive the update, including Xperia XZs and Xperia XA1.
