Overview

Perth Scorchers finished on top of the table at the end of the group stages but they have suffered a dip in form after losing two of their last four games. However, Adam Voges' men thrashed Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets with 37 balls to spare to leapfrog Brisbane Heat and secure a home semi-final.

With two titles and two semi-final appearances, the Scorchers have been the most consistent side in the Big Bash League history. They will be looking to make use of the conditions at home to make it to another final on Tuesday.

Australia veteran Shaun Marsh's return to form should encourage the Scorchers. With the likes of Michael Killinger, Ian Bell and skipper Voges, the hosts have a formidable batting line-up and their bowling unit looks dangerous as well.

The pacer-friendly conditions in WACA will help their in-form quicks Mitchell Johnson, Andrew Tye and Tim Bresnan. Justin Langer-coached side have the big-stage experience and the winning momentum to progress in the competition.

On the other hand, Melbourne Stars have faced defeat in their last two games but held on to the fourth spot, edging their cross-city rivals Renegades on better Net Run Rate. David Hussey's men have been struggling to stitch wins after they lost their big stars - Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, Adam Zampa And Marcus Stoinis - to international duty.

A lot will depend on Rob Quiney, Luke Wright and Kevin Pietersen if Stars are to tackle the Scorchers pace attack and make their second consecutive final. There is also a reported possibility of Faulkner and Stoinis returning to the side as the duo is likely to be rested for Australia's final ODI against Pakistan.
