Movado, the parent company of Hugo Boss and Tommy Hilfiger, has just announced a partnership with Google, as the former wants to launch its very own smartwatch collection. According to the announcement, Movado's upcoming collection will be called 'Movado Connect'.
According to Phone Arena, Movado Connect will be officially unveiled at the Baseworld 2017. This trade show is one of the major gala parties for the watch and jewelry industry which is scheduled to begin from 23 March. More details regarding this premium smartwatch line will be revealed at this event.
As per the announcement by Movado, the smartwatch collection-to-be-launched will be powered by Google's latest Android Wear 2.0. Five men's watches will be launched under the Movado Connect collection and the price range will start from $495. It's reported that the company will feature Movado's iconic Museum dial, along with some customisable elements, such as, changeable background colors and watch hands among other things. It will also allow users to customise their watches according to their personal taste.
The watches will start to roll out in the market by fall of 2017. Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss-specific smartwatches will also be launched around the same time this year.
According a report by 9to5Google, Movado's Group Chairman and CEO Efraim Grinberg said that the launch of Movado Connect indicates a new milestone in the company's longstanding history of innovation and creativity. He also said that they are very proud to be able to partner with Google and provide customers with quality-design watches powered by cutting-edge technologies. Grinberg describes the new collection to be "iconically Movado".
David Singleton, the VP of Android Engineering also expressed the company's excitement about being able to work with Movado. He said, with the expertise that both companies possess in the field of watchmaking, software and design, Movado and Google together will create beautiful and advanced time-pieces that will help people in their day-to-day lives.
