Motorola has just announced the global rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat update for the international variants of Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones, following the recent Nougat rollout for the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid in the US via the Verizon network. The company has officially confirmed that the latest Nougat update will hit the Moto Z phones starting this week onwards.

With due credit to the Android 7.0 update, both Moto Z and Moto Z Force will be the first non-Google smartphones to support Daydream feature, which will introduce high-quality mobile VR on high-resolution displays, ultra-smooth graphics and high-fidelity sensors for accurate head tracking.

It is imperative to own the Google VR headset with Daydream View controller in order to experience this unique feature. The headset and controller may be purchased via Verizon, Google Play Store or Best Buy in the US.

All eligible Moto Z devices should start receiving the notification for the forthcoming Nougat update soon. However, those who failed to get the notification on their handset for some reason may go ahead and install the same manually by going to Settings > About Phone > System updates and then tapping on Check for System Updates.

The international version of the Nougat OTA update is expected to weigh almost 1.5GB in size, which is the same as its US counterpart on Verizon Droid units.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure the Moto Z or Moto Z Force is connected to a Wi-Fi network before you begin downloading the new Nougat update, which is both time-consuming and resource hungry.
  • Verify that the handset has at least 80% battery charge left as the installation of the Nougat OTA is estimated to take roughly around 20 minutes.
