Malaysia face Egypt in their second game of 2016 Hockey Junior World Cup in North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on 11 December.
The junior team from the Southeast Asian team replaced Paksitan in the last minute ahead of the start of the tournament as the International Hockey Federation pulled out the latter for not submitting entries before deadline.
Malaysia though did not have a good start to their campaign as they were thrashed by two-time runners-up Netherlands in their opener on Friday. After conceding three goals at the half-time, Wallace Tan's team managed to pull back two as Muhd Hafizuddin Zaidi and Amirol Aideed Arshad found the back of the net. However, they conceded four more in the second half to end up losing 7-2.
On the other hand, Egypt also lost to Pool heavyweights Belgium 4-0 in their tournament opener on Friday. The tournament favourites kept troubling the Egyptian defence and were able to get two goals in each of the halves.
Malaysia need a win to remain in contention for a sport in the quarter-final and Sunday's game is their best opportunity to do it before they face Belgium on Monday. They will be geared up to show some fight against a stronger opposition in their last group game a and win against Egypt will boost their confidence.
