Justin Bieber abruptly cancelled the remainder of his Purpose World Tour. The 23-year-old Canadian singer was set to do nine shows in the U.S. and Canada, as well as six shows in Asia.

A spokesperson for the Baby hitmaker said in a statement: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts. Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months. He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across 6 continents during this run. However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase."

Bieber had kicked off the tour in March 2016, and played more than 150 shows across the Americas and Europe as well as in Australia, India, Israel, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

According to a report in Hollywood Life, Selena Gomez's former boyfriend is following Taylor Swift's footsteps. The Bad Blood hitmaker has been away from spotlight for sometime now. She released her hit album 1989 in 2014, and ended her world tour in December 2015.

A source said: "He was biting off more than he could chew and was over it and decided to cancel the rest of the tour because he's nearly exhausted."

"He needs a break and is looking to take the longest break of his career. He might not be friends with Taylor Swift, but he admires how she can just disappear and give herself time and he is looking to doing that by getting out of the limelight and focusing on himself," the insider added.
