KiThe popular drama Descendants of the Sun is making news and winning awards even after a year of its ending, therefore its rumoured sequel is much awaited for.
However, according to the recent report mentioned by inquisitr, Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki will not be reprising their role in the Season 2 of the drama. The popular on-screen couple will not be returning back for the new episodes.
The report also mentioned that the drama is to come back this year itself. The KBS team has confirmed the news of the Descendants of the Sun Season 2 but did not reveal anything about the cast yet.
Website Opptrends noted, "A representative from NEW has apparently released an official information that Descendants of the Sun 2 Is currently in the process of making and that it will come out in 2017. The name of the series for its season 2 will remain the same despite all the changes that are planned to be done."
While the showrunners are apparently getting ready for the drama, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will reportedly be very busy with their commitments towards other projects.
In fact, Joong Ki even mentioned that after the release of his film, Battleship Island, he will be taking a vacation and will away from work for some time. Since the time of his debut, he has signed one project after another and now, would like to take a break.
The return of the SongSong couple seems more impossible because previously, Kim Won Seok stated, "I have no plans for a second season. I've already told the story I wanted to tell."
Hye Kyo has not taken up any major projects and is reportedly busy endorsing brands; she has not confirmed any movies or K-drama projects she is to work on next.
Inquistr mentioned that the KBS's drama department Jung Sung Ho revealed his wish to bring back the Descendants Of The Sun Season 2 for its fans, "We want to repay viewers with the next Descendants of the Sun. We are grateful to viewers, overseas fans, staff, and actors. The drama was more than a domestic syndrome; it established a third wave of Hallyu. KBS will strive to produce a second Descendants of the Sun to meet expectations and repay viewers. We plan to launch a 2017 Descendants of the Sun project for broadcast in 2017 through negotiations with the cast and production team."
