Korean American singer, rapper and actor Eli has opened up about his struggling childhood days. The 26-year-old member of South Korean boy band U-KISS, who was brought up in the United States, revealed he was subjected to racist attacks.

During the recent episode of Mr House Husband, Eli said: "I once got beat up really bad by students. So I came (home) crying with my noona and my dad ran out to get them in like 5 seconds. That's also when I started taekwondo."

"The teacher didn't like me very much either. It was in high school. I encountered a lot of racial discrimination. That's why I lack confidence even til today," he added.

In December 2015, Eli shocked his fans after he revealed he has been married for over a year. He posted wrote on Instagram: "Hey everyone I know you all probably knew I had a girlfriend by the ring on my finger. We've been together for about 5 years now and love each other very much~ We actually filed for our wedding license on June 5 2014 and are currently happily married with a baby on the way. My wife is 3 months pregnant and by summer of next year I'm going to be a father. We still haven't had our ceremony yet but we will try to have it very soon. I know this might come as a surprise for everyone but we thought everyone should know. Thank you all for supporting all this time and I apologize if any of you feel betrayed and understand if you no longer support U-Kiss."

The couple welcomed their first child together on 7 June 2016.
