South Korea, Singapore win at ABU Prizes 2017

The SBS Korean drama "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" bagged the grand prize under the TV drama division while MBC's "The Rebel" got a commendation.

TV and radio programs from different countries were honoured at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union's ABU Prizes 2017 held in China.

"ABU Prizes is the most prestigious programme awards in our region which honour the best Radio and Television programmes from our member organisations. It serves as an encouragement and a testament to the growth of broadcasting," according to the organizer's website.

The SBS Korean drama "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" bagged the grand prize under the TV drama division while MBC's "The Rebel" got a commendation.

KBS' documentary "A Cruel Gift" garnered the best documentary award and EBS' "Qin Shi Huang, the King of Eternal Empire" was commended.

MBC's "Human Documentary Love: My Name is Shin Song Hyuk" won the ABU Perspective Award while Singapore's "On The Red Dot - In My Parents' Shoes (Ep 2)" of Mediacorp TV got a commendation.

In the radio category, KBS' "KBS World Radio Special: The 3rd Korean Language Video Contest 'Speak Korean, Dream High'" got a commendation in the interactive programme category.

Singapore's "Eat List Star" of Mediacorp TV won in the TV Entertainment category.
