Portland Police released a video on 1 June of a man suspected of stealing the wedding ring and backpack of Ricky Best, a victim of the 26 May Portland train stabbing. Best was one of two men fatally stabbed after they intervened when a man launched a racist rant at two women, one wearing a hijab, aboard a Portland Train.

Protesters outside the White House called US President Donald Trump a puppet of the polluters after he announced the US would withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. French President Emmanuel Macron categorically ruled out any renegotiation of the Paris climate accords on June 1 and said US President Donald Trumps decision to withdraw would harm American interests and citizens. During a televised address, the recently elected president echoed Trumps election slogan to convey his message, saying Wherever we live, whoever we are, we all share the same responsibility: Make our planet great again.
