Singapore: 64-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies After CTE Crash Near Orchard Exit; Driver Arrested

A 64-year-old motorcyclist died following a traffic accident on Singapore's Central Expressway (CTE) on Wednesday, April 1.

The emergency services were informed about the crash at about 2.15 pm. The accident, which occurred on the CTE towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) near the Orchard Road exit, involved a car and a motorcycle.

When the Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics arrived at the scene alongside police officers, they found the motorcyclist and his 41-year-old female pillion rider injured. Both were taken to Singapore General Hospital, where the motorcyclist later succumbed to his injuries. However, the condition of the pillion rider has not been disclosed.

The driver of the car, a 68-year-old man, has since been arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing death. Investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash are still ongoing.

In the hours following the accident, video footage of the scene began circulating on social media. The clips show the aftermath of the collision, with both the motorcyclist and his pillion rider lying on the expressway as nearby motorists stop and rush forward to render assistance.
