US flies two dozen stealth jets over Korean Peninsula for massive drill Hundreds of warplanes and several weapons began training as the US and South Korea embarked on a massive aerial drill on Monday, 4 December, in a strong show of force against the reclusive North Korean regime. The joint drill, codenamed Vigilant ACE (air combat exercise), is taking place within days of Pyongyangs launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), although the exercise was scheduled before the Norths provocative act.

Video captures moment Australian surfs over shark A surfers unexpected encounter with a shark was captured by his onboard camera while he was catching a wave off Cellito Beach in Australias New South Wales on November 25. After checking the footage caught on his onboard camera he believed he had encountered a bull shark, often found in warm and shallow waters and are known for their aggressive nature.

Skiing santas hit the slopes The 18th annual Santa event took place at Sunday River ski resort in western Maine on 3 December.  The event is highlighted by Santas skiing and snowboarding down the slopes to raise money for the Sunday River Community Fund, which benefits groups in the area.

Lorry driver jailed over M6 crash after falling asleep whilst driving A lorry driver has been jailed for 16 months after he fell asleep at the wheel and ploughed into the back of two cars at speed. The lorry driver has also been banned from driving for three year and eight months. The collison had devastating impacts on one of the victims, who despite making a full physical recoveries, now does not want to drive on motorways.

Man jailed for two years after attacking traffic warden A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to jail for two years after he assaulted a traffic warden. The traffic warden was issuing a ticket for an illegally parked vehicle when he was attacked and pushed into a restaurant.
