After more than a year of his near fatal dose following his recent divorce from Khloe Kardashian, Lamar Odom checked into a rehab facility in San Diego, California. A judge signed off the divorce papers filed by Khloe Kardashian in May this year. This is Odom's second visit to a rehab after 2012 when Khloe successfully persuaded him to join one for three weeks.

"It was his own decision. He wanted to work on his mental and physical health for the next chapter of his life," a source close to the player revealed to E! News. A People source adds: "He plans to stay for 30 days. It's a substance abuse program, but he was not abusing drugs when he went in. He is clean. This is a precautionary measure."

In October 2015 the former pro basketball player was found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered drugs in his system. He was later transported to Los Angeles Hospital where Khloe took great care of the player. At the time of Odom's near fatal dose, Khloe was told that Lamar has possibly only four hours left to live but the player defied all odds and survived.

The separated couple Odom, 37, and Khloe, 32, walked down the aisle in September 2007. Later due to Odom's cheating and drug relapse, Kardashian consequently filed for divorce back in 2013. However, both the stars finally signed the divorce papers in July 2015 but few months later, Kardashian called off their divorce ascribing Odom's near fatal drug dose in 2015. The famous television personality resigned and restarted the pending divorce proceedings in May and their marriage finally ended when the judge signed off their divorce papers on Friday.

A People's insider also delivered the good news that the former player is working hard to get better and healthy, "He wants to stay clear and focused. With the divorce from Khloé being finalized and the holidays coming up, he doesn't want to slip up. He's trying to take care of himself. He really wants to be better. His friends and family encouraged him to go in and he agreed and made the decision."

Perhaps with the past support from his ex-wife Khloe and the continuous support from his family and his two children 18 year-old Destiny and 14 year-old Lamar Jr, Odom will positively recover back soon.
