Who is Bowe Bergdahl? Sgt Bergdahl walked off his military post in Afghanistan in 2009, in what he says was a protest to prove that his commanders were unfit for service. He was then captured by the Taliban, and kept in captivity and tortured for five years. He was released in exchange for five Guantanamo Bay detainees in May 2014.

Afghanistan Taliban suicide bombers and gunmen storm police training center A Taliban suicide bomber and gunmen attacked a provincial Afghan police headquarters on Oct. 17, killing at least 33 people and wounding 160. The attack targeted a police training center attached to the headquarters in Gardez, the capital of Paktia province, officials said. The Taliban said it was behind the attack.

Reckless swimmer ignores warnings to stay inside during storm Ophelia Footage has been released showing a swimmer braving the choppy waters off the coast of Ireland, whilst Storm Ophelia batters the country.The reckless behavior in Salthill, County Galway, happened despite numerous warnings telling people to stay indoors. Ophelia, which was a category three hurricane before being downgraded to a storm, hit the south-western area of Ireland on Oct. 16. Three people have been killed so far, officials said.
