Jeff Goldblum talks about returning as Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World 2

Says Malcolm is 'a saucy, sassy man of some integrity and deep thinking.'

We learned on April 25 that Jeff Goldblum was reprising his Ian Malcolm character for the third time in the fifth 'Jurassic Park' film, directed by 'A Monster Calls' filmmaker J.A. Bayona. Now, Goldblum has teased about his role in the upcoming dinosaur movie.

Jeff Goldblum, who recently courted gastronomic success with his food truck 'Chef Goldblum's Jazzy Snags' in Australia, sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly. In it, he talked about hosting National Geographic channel's documentary, 'Explorer,' 'Thor: Ragnarok,' an Amazon comedy series with Danny DeVito and of course 'Jurassic World 2.'

Goldblum began by saying he'll be flying to London in a few weeks time to go film his scenes there. He said cryptically: "I like my character [Dr. Ian Malcolm]. I think my character is a saucy, sassy man of some integrity and deep thinking. And of course, that whole world continues to be popular, slam-bang, top entertainment."

"I talked to the director, J.A. Bayona, over the phone. I enjoyed his movie The Impossible with Naomi Watts, and he's something else. I didn't realize he was a good friend of a friend of mine, a director I worked with a while ago in Spain named Fernando Trueba, who's just fantastic. Knowing that the two of them are brethren and brotherly in their friendship makes me feel very good, too," the 'Independence Day' actor said.

Goldblum also revealed the thematic elements that came up while discussing the fifth 'Jurassic Park' movie with J.A. Bayona: "Even though some might say it's popcorn-y entertainment (top-notch, of course), in our conversation he was very focused on the serious issues of greed as it oftentimes comes up in those movies, and the marvels of science and reason and the very fascinating point at which our species finds itself both in real life and in this imaginary world too. I'm very interested in that myself, so I'm looking forward to this. I've got a few things to do. I'm nothing if not conscientious, so I'm enjoying working on it every day."

It isn't known at this point, whether Jeff Goldblum will have a cameo or a supporting role. Frank Marshall had said, "I'm excited to have him back. The world has changed a lot since Ian Malcolm went to Jurassic Park and we need his point of view now more than ever. He told us about chaos theory, he was right."

It has been previously revealed that the untitled 'Jurassic World' sequel will tackle the issue of animal abuse and exploitation for commercial greed. Recently, a report claimed that Blue, the sole surviving Velociraptor from 'Jurassic World' would be captured by InGen, the company responsible for creating the dinosaurs in 'Jurassic Park.' Blue's genes would then be used to create more such dinosaurs for use in war scenarios. Chris Pratt's Owen, who had a special bond with the Raptors, will try to save Blue and the other dinosaurs.

'Jurassic World 2' is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018.
