Google to provide total Wifi coverage for houses with Google Home 2.0

the next generation Google Home will be half speaker/Google Assistant and half Google Wifi

Within just five months from its arrival in the market, already whispers are buzzing around that Google Home is gearing up for an improved version 2.0. As per The Information, the tech giant is currently working on an upgraded version of Google Home that will also act as a WiFi router and mesh network.

In short, the next generation Google Home will be half speaker/Google Assistant and half Google Wifi. So, instead of buying two different devices and set it up, consumers can just go for this one compact device.

This is not just another smart device on your home network, the next version of Home, could actually be the network itself. For example, if one has a Google OnHub router or a Google Wifi router, the Home 2.0 could extend the Wi-Fi network and blanket deadzones, essentially fixing areas within your home that have poor connections, reported Mashable.

The Information also claims that Google wanted to incorporate a microphone, a speaker and its Assistant into the Google Wifi routers, but finally dropped the idea because it would create confusion with Google Home.

According to a source Google wants to provide a complete Wifi coverage in the house, reported the publication. "Alphabet's goal is to get more devices in the home that do more. Coverage of Wi-Fi is a huge pain point," he said.

This is definitely seen to be a move that will give Google Home a much better advantage over its biggest competitor Amazon's Alexa controlled Echo, if Amazon is not working on the same technology as well.
