Google Assistant adds support for more smart home products including those of TP-Link, LIFX, August and 10 others

Starting today smart home products from companies such as, TP-Link, LIFX, Wink and Best Buy's Insignia WiFi Smart Plusg will be supported by Google Assistant

Google Assistant and Google Home are indeed maturing with time. Since its launch Google had only incorporated some major additions to Google Assistant's home control compatible products, which made it lack in the home automation department hugely compared to its competitions in the market. But today, the tech giant has announced some major partnerships that increases the usefulness of the Assistant in home control.

The products will include colour changing bulbs from TP-Link and LIFX, smart outlets from the likes of Insignia and TP-Link and a bunch of other smart home products compatible with the ecosystem of Wink.

While LIFX's inclusion adds some of the first "hub-less" smart bulb to the Assistant's lineup, addition of Wink enables Google Assistant to interact with dozens of various smart home products from different brands too. The commands and services include:

• Cool down and "turn on the fan" with the Best Buy Insignia Wi-Fi Smart Plug

• Set the mood for your dinner party and "change the living room lights to blue" with LIFX

• Relax and "dim the living room lights" with TP-Link

• Get comfortable and "turn up the heat" with Wink

TP-Link had already revealed that the Google Home support was coming back to its products during the CES 2017, reported 9To5Google.

August has also confirmed that their smart door lock will now be supported by Google Home, making it the first ever smart lock to be compatible with all the three major digital assistants – HomeKit, Alexa and Google Assistant. As of now the users will only be able to lock the doors or check the lock status with the voice assistant but according to the company they are working with Google to upgrade the system further and develop a more secure way to unlock the door as well.

Apart from the afore mentioned companies, Logitech Harmony, Geeni, Vivint, First Alert, Rachio, Electrolux Frigidaire, Neato, and Anova will also be supported by Google Assistant starting from today.
