Prolific Italian hacker and jailbreak developer, Luca Todesco, has just announced via Twitter that a new fix has been added to the Yalu jailbreak to enable support for TSMC iPhone 6s/6s Plus and iPhone SE. With the release of latest Yalu fix, the iOS 10.1/10.1.1 jailbreak is now compatible with iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, iPhone SE and iPad Pro.
Despite expanding support for the Yalu jailbreak across iOS devices, Todesco insists that there is an inherent critical bug in the hack tool which is impeding further jailbreak development. He also adds that fixing the bug will be his top priority, before adding more support.
The hacker has advised potential iOS 10 jailbreakers to stick to @stickron's 6s TSMC fix and avoid using other third-party fixes. Furthermore, users have been cautioned against using 'Yucca Utilities' or any other substrate enabler as this feature seems to be broken and could permanently brick your device.
Elaborating on the status of the Yalu jailbreak for public release, Todesco had this to say:
Fun fact; all current substrate enablers do it wrong. And there is no real way to do it right unless the bug I was tweeting about gets fixed. full disclosure: ijapwhatever00's actions made me way less willing to complete yalu.
He also adds that iOS 10.2 is unlikely to be jailbroken any time soon, considering Apple's recent flurry of security patches ported into its newest iOS firmware update. Nevertheless, iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 users are in for some good news as the hacker has promised to lend support for Yalu jailbreak on these devices.
Interested users may go ahead and download the latest build of Yalu beta 3 jailbreak (Samsung chip) with added support for iPhone 6s and SE. Those having the TSMC version of the handset can download the fix along with the Yalu jailbreak, using the links provided below:
