Song Joong Ki is very excited to marry Song Hye Kyo. The couple shocked their fans around the world by confirming their relationship recently, and the two announced that they will tie the knot on October 31.

During an appearance on JTBC's Newsroom, he gushed about his wife-to-be and discussed his new film Battleship Island. He said: "Since I have two big events happening this year, I think I'm spending the best summer so far. My movie has already been released, and the other event is my wedding."

Adding on, Joong Ki chose Song Hye Kyo's favorite song from the movie The Umbrellas of Cherbourg to end the show. He said: "I watched the movie a few months ago. It's an old movie. I thought it was an incredibly good film and the music didn't leave my mind. Truthfully, it took a long time to make [my choice] since it's also a song that my fiancee likes."

The duo shot to fame after starring in Descendants of the Sun. In the hit drama, Joong Ki plays the lead role as Captain Yoo Shi Jin, and Hye Kyo reprises the role of doctor named Kang Mo-Yeon.

Meanwhile, during an interview, the Running Man star's father talked about their wedding. He said, as quoted by Soompi: "[Song Joong Ki] is at the best age to get married so I'm glad he's engaged. As parents, we've decided to respect our son's decision. People were saying I was against their marriage, but that's a misunderstanding."

He added: "Now that my son will be having a stable family after marriage, I hope he works even harder to become an actor who can also be responsible for his household. I think my son will be able to achieve that."
