'Goblin: The Lonely and Great God,' ended on a high on January 21. Apart from the main plot featuring Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun, viewers were captivated by the timeless tale of love, treachery and sacrifice, involving Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na. However, even after 8 months, interest in 'Goblin' and particularly Lee Dong-wook, refuses to die down. His portrayal of the mythical grim reaper figure received critical praise and lots of love from viewers. However, there's one aspect of his character that he resented a lot.

As noted by website Soompi, on October 25, actor Lee Dong-wook appeared at the 6th EDaily W Festa (Global Womens' Forum 2017) with the writer of 'Goblin,' Kim Eun-sook. It is here that he revealed how he disliked putting on the fedora of the grim reaper, which became such an iconic part of his character's identity and personality in the drama.

"I actually was very against the fedora [that I wore during the drama]. Every time I wore the fedora, I would have to re-do my hair. Fedoras also don't really suit me, although now that people are used to it, they may think otherwise. It was basically the same thing during the historical scenes. I argued with the director about my bangs a lot. Afterwards, I got a few offers for historical projects, and there was even a role for a king, but I rejected them all," Lee Dong-wook said.

Previously, Dong-wook had said that following 'Goblin,' he rejected many historical or fantasy drama offers because he didn't want to be typecast. "If I were to play a similar character [to the one I did in 'Goblin'], taking on the same image, I'd feel like I were digging myself into a hole. I don't think it would be right to [go about my career that way]," the actor had said in an interview in September. He also said that he wants his next character to be a real human being.

The actor was also asked whether he keeps in touch with his 'Goblin' co-star, Gong Yoo. Both have been good friends for some time now. He replied, "Gong Yoo and I have similar alcohol tolerance levels. Since they're similar, we became good drinking buddies." The 'My Girl' actor also joked, "Sometimes we even meet without Kim Eun-sook."

Lee Dong-wook recently attended the '2018 S/S Paris Fashion Week - Givenchy Fashion Show' in France on October 1. Watch a clip from the fashion show and check out some stills of Lee Dong-wook from Paris, below.

As for Kim Eun-sook, she has been criticised for not portraying female characters as good as her male characters. Addressing this issue, she said, "I'm bad with [female characters]. I get a lot of critique that the story gets pulled and centred around the male characters. I'm aware of that aspect."

She added, "Hasn't the world changed? Nowadays, independent female characters get the spotlight. Even when I debuted, they weren't falling behind. I try to keep up with the times but the world keeps changing too quickly. I will continue to study and try to change to create stories where both the male and female characters equally share and grow in their love for each other."

Kim Eun-sook's upcoming drama 'Mr. Sunshine,' airs on tvN in May 2018. It stars Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-ri and Yoo Yeon-seok in the main cast. Director Lee Eung-bok will helm the project after having directed Kim Eun-sook's previous two dramas, 'Descendants of the Sun,' starring Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo and 'Goblin.'
