4Minute says goodbye to music industry after seven glorious years

HyunA has renewed her contract with Cube Entertainment.

Cube Entertainment has issued an official statement announcing the disbandment of South Korean girl group, 4Minute on 16 June. The girl group, which debuted in 2009, reportedly parted ways due to a conflict in member's futuristic opinions.

The agency revealed that the 4Minute member, HyunA, has renewed her contract with them, while the other four members bid adieu. The official note read: "Jihyun, Gayoon, Jiyoon, and Sohyun's exclusive contracts ended on June 14, and the 4 have left Cube."

The agency continued: "We had long negotiations concerning the 4 members' re-signing, and at the end of the mediation, it was decided they would not re-sign. The label is respecting their decision and sincerely cheer on their futures."

While the role of the Gangnam star, HyunA in the company is not yet known, the reports suggests that other four members are moving ahead with their individual goals. Allkpop reported that Gayoon and Jihyun will more likely concentrate on acting, however, Jiyoon will work on producing and singing.

Adding on, Sohyun , who is part of skyTV's 'My Pet Laboratory', will continue as the show's fixed cast.

4Minute stepped into the music industry with its first single, Hot Issue in 2009. The girls went on to give many hits and received a lot of accolades, including the Bonsang Award at the 20th Seoul Music Awards, and the Kpop New Artist Award at the 2010 Billboard Japan Music Awards.
