Japanese rice brand Kinmemai is introducing the world's most expensive rice for sale in Singapore from next month.

Known as Kinmemai Premium, the rice was registered in the Guinness World Records as the world's most expensive rice priced at US$109.(S$148.55) per kilogram, last year.

As stated by The Straits Times, this premium rice is a choice blend of five award-winning tasty rice varieties such as Koshihikari and Pikamaru, from Japan's prefectures which include Gunma, Nagano and Niigata.

Washing the rice before cooking may not be necessary as the rice is being marketed as a rinse-free consumable product.

Toyo Rice Corp produces Kinmemai rice products. The company's production unit uses a technology that gives rice grains a gentler and finer polishing removing the wax layer surrounding the husk of the grain while retaining its nutrients and flavours.

The grains are aged for six months before being milled to improve texture and flavour and is expected to be superior from regular Japanese rice in terms of sweetness, flavour and nutritional value.

Kinmemai Premium is also expected to have six times more endotoxins that naturally improve the human body's immune system.

The premium rice will be available for Singapore consumers online from November 1. It can be ordered on www.kinmemai.com at a price range of S$155 for a box containing six 140g sachets.

Kinmemai Better White with a recommended retail price of S$9.40 per kg and Kinmemai Better Brown with a recommended retail price of S$9.80 per kg are lesser versions of its rice range already retailing at Singapore's supermarkets.
