Telecoms services provider StarHub on Wednesday unveiled free unlimited weekend plans for its postpaid customers.

Starting from 12:00am on Saturdays to 11:59 pm on Sundays, customers will be able to surf, stream, social network and more to their hearts' content without having to worry about incurring excess data charges, the company said in a statement.

Outside of the weekends, customers will have between 3 GB and 15 GB of bundled data, which can be upsized and shared with others using the DataJump and DataShare options.

"With our new data-focused plans, we are enabling our customers to do more of what they love on their smartphones freely and at much faster speeds too,"said Justin Ang, head of product at StarHub in a statement.

Starting from August 31, customers will be able to sign up for the plans online as well as at StarHub shops, authorised dealers and COMEX 2017.

Earlier this week, StarHub announced an exclusive partnership with tech giant Google to bring the company's high-powered WiFi solution to Singapore.

Called Google Wifi, it replaces traditional routers by being a mesh of networking system, ensuring strong and fast signals for all connected devices.

Shares in the company rose 0.8 percent to S$2.66 on the Singapore Exchange. The stock has lost 6 percent so far this year.
