Singapore police arrest 4 suspects for selling fake luxury and sports goods

Singapore police said that they have arrested four suspects, including two women, for allegedly selling counterfeit luxury and sports items. In a statement, the authorities said that the suspects, aged between 28 and 49, were nabbed in a six-hour operation conducted on Wednesday.

According to reports, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers conducted simultaneous raids at three retail outlets in Lucky Plaza, a shopping mall along Orchard Road, and a residential unit at Bukit Timah, which resulted in the arrests.

More than 1,700 pieces of trademark-infringing shoes, clothes, bags, wallets, watches, belts and other accessories were seized during the operation.

The statement added that the estimated street value of those goods, bearing trademarks of various designer and sports brands, is about $51,000.

The police said that the investigations are going on. If convicted of selling or distributing goods with falsely applied trademark, the suspects may be jailed for up to five years or fined up to a maximum of $100,000, or both.
