Singapore Airlines commences biggest internal overhaul: report

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has commenced a three-year turnaround plan to review work processes and operations companywide.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has commenced a three-year turnaround plan to review work processes and operations companywide, Straits Times reported on Friday.

More than 100 staff are currently working on 56 projects, including how to further reduce fuel burn and cut in-flight food waste, Straits Times reported quoting SIA's chief executive Goh Choon Phong as saying in the airline's in-house newsletter.

The turnaround plan encompasses initiatives to grow revenue, and enhance organisational and operational effectiveness, the report said.

SIA is also relooking flying rosters which could lead to some flights being converted to turnaround services where crew do not need to stay overnight at overseas stations, the report added.

The process started in May with the establishment of a dedicated Transformation Office, which has a team of 12 senior staff, Straits Times report said.

Shares of Singapore Air rose 0.20 percent to S$10.21. The stock has gained 6 percent this year, compared with a 13 percent rise in the benchmark Straits Times Index.
