Singapore actress Rui En charged with careless driving after knocking down motorcycle

The 35-year-old actress told a District Court that she intends to plead guilty.

Singaporean television actress Rui En has been charged with inconsiderate driving.

The 35-year-old actress told a District Court that she intends to plead guilty and the case has been adjourned till July 1.

This year on April 12, she reportedly failed to control her car and knocked over a stationary motorcycle while turning into the car park of her apartment near Block 331 Clementi Avenue 2 at about 4.15 pm.

The Straits Times reported that when the motorcycle owner, Bahrom Sarmiten confronted the actress, she said, "Do you know who I am?".

However, Hype Records, the company who manages her PR said: "The car park is where she parks her vehicle everyday over many years and she had no intentions of ignoring or even running away from her responsibility."

Earlier, Rui En had said her own side of the story adding that she should have "handled the situation with more tact". In response to Sarmiten's comment, she said, "In my state of anxiety, I told him, 'Do you know who I am? I live upstairs and won't run'."

This was the second time when the actress was involved in a traffic accident in recent months.

If the actress is convicted of careless driving, she might have to face a penalty up to six months of jail and/or fined up to S$1,000.
