Singapore Ministry of Finance said on Thursday that around 880,000 Singaporean living in HDB flats are expected to receive S$120 million worth of service and conservancy charges (S&CC) refund in the financial year of 2017.

The Channel News Asia states that the repayment was announced to provide additional support to households during Budget 2017. Moreover, the 15 town councils run by the People's Action Party (PAP) said they will raise the S&CC starting in June.

As a part of the rebate, each eligible Singaporean household will receive 1.5 to 3.5 months of S&CC money depending on their HDB flat type. Moreover, the rebate is expected to be disbursed over the months of April, July, October 2017 and January 2018.

The ministry also said that eligible households will receive a letter from end-March with more details, reported the news website.

It was also informed that while the repayment will be used to offset a household's S&CC payment directly, the owners who paid their S&CC through GIRO will be assisted by their town councils to contact their banks. Residents can contact their town council or the HDB enquiries line at 1800 8663 078 or email sccrebates@mailbox.hdb.gov.sg for more information.
