Selena Gomez's mother reveals why it was essential for singer to go to rehab

She revealed that the singer entered the rehab center in August 2016 amid her "Revival World Tour."

American singer Selena Gomez reportedly entered a treatment center to handle her anxiety and depression. According to inquisitr, the singer's mother, Mandy Teefey has now opened up about the singer's mental health.

She revealed that the singer entered the rehab center in August 2016 amid her "Revival World Tour." Now, the singer is completely fit and healthy.

It has been really tough for the 24-year-old star and she has been vocal about her reasons to stay away from the limelight and why she cancelled her tour. Recently, her mom too said the same thing stating that the actress needed a reality as she was living in a bubble and she needed to get away from it.

She said to Entertainment Tonight, "You asked what it is [like] to feel like you're in this world, we're in a bubble. It's not a real world. You don't really realize until you go out of this bubble and you're like, 'Oh, OK.'"

In 2014, the singer entered the rehab when she was diagnosed with lupus. Teefey has been very supportive of Gomez's career.

The singer for the first time opened up the first-ever U.S. Vogue cover story about her mental health. Selena revealed that Dialectical Behavior Therapy and an Instagram detox is something she needed. She said, "DBT has completely changed my life."

She also added, "I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we're taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who's down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart."

Selena explained, "As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It's what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn't want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn't want to care about. I always end up feeling like s**t when I look at Instagram. Which is why I'm kind of under the radar, ghosting a bit."
