Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku says he does not fear for the competition for a place in the starting lineup following Zlatan Ibrahimovic's return from injury.

The Swedish striker scored 28 goals across all competitions as the Red Devils finished the season with the EFL Cup and the Europa League. Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury in April and was released after the end of the last season.

Jose Mourinho's side re-signed the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich striker and have handed him a one-year deal. Ibrahimovic is currently on the sidelines recovering from a knee injury and Lukaku, who arrived at Old Trafford from Everton earlier in the summer, is leading the attack.

The Belgium international has already scored four goals in four appearances for the 20-time English champions, which includes three goals in the Premier League. Lukaku believes United need personalities like Ibrahimovic at the club.

"I said to Zlatan I hoped he would be back. We need his personality. He will bring many qualities to the team, and help us in our goal of winning the title. I don't fear the competition as a striker, or Zlatan," Sky Sports quoted Lukaku as saying.

The former Chelsea and Everton striker also hailed Mourinho for helping him settle quickly at United.

"Things are going really well for me at United, the pre-season was good and it helped knowing a lot of the players before arriving," the striker stressed.

"The manager has helped me a lot to settle quickly, so it has all been very positive. I am now with a coach that I have wanted to play with for a long time, since I was 11 years of age. And with him we are looking to do something special."
