Sixth seed PV Sindhu faces top seed Tai Tzu Ying in the Women's singles quarter-final of 2017 All England Championships at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
The Rio Olympic silver medalist eased past Indonesia's unseeded shuttler Dinar Dyah Ayustine in straight games (21-12, 21-14) in just 30 minutes in her second round clash yesterday while the world number one Taiwanese shuttler progressed to the second round after clinching a tight contest (27-25, 21-11) against Japan's Minatsu Mitani.
Sindhu is heading into the ongoing tournament after starting the year with a Grand Prix Gold title at the Syed Modi Championships in India in January. Notably, the world number six was also part of the title-winning team at the cash-rich Premier Badminton League earlier this year.

Having won her first Olympic medal and a Superseries title as well in 2016, Sindhu will be looking to build on her recent success and make a mark in the ongoing tournament. Standing in her way though is her familiar foe Tai, against whom she has a close 3-5 head-to-head record with their last meeting - the Hong Kong Open Superseries final - ending in the Taiwanese shuttler's favour.
Despite not featuring in any of the tournaments after her World Superseries Finals title in Dubai last year, Tai was switched on from the word go in Birmingham and made light work of world number 17 Nitchaon Jindapol 21-18, 21-14 in the opening round. The world number one will be hoping to extend her positive record against the in-form Indian shutter.
Sindhu has, in the past, struggled against Tai's expertise at the net and the latter showed her class in their last meeting. However, with better match practice, the Indian shuttler should be in a better position to test her quarter-final opponent this time.
