PlayStation 4 jailbreak looms as new exploit is discovered in firmware 5.0

Hacker Luca Todesco has revealed that he found a way to penetrate the latest firmware version of PlayStation 4.

A new exploit in the 5.0 firmware version of PlayStation 4 (PS4) has been discovered prompting hopes that a new one is possibly coming soon after a very long time.

Well-known hacker Luca Todesco on Monday revealed via Twitter that he found a way to penetrate the latest firmware version of PlayStation 4. Sony Electronics Inc first rolled out the PlayStation 4 version 5.0 just a couple of weeks ago.

The possible PS4 5.0 jailbreak is the first in a long time since PlayStation 4 version 1.76. According to reports, the latest firmware version of Sony's home gaming console could be as susceptible as the earlier version. Once the PlayStation 4 5.0 jailbreak becomes a reality, players will be able to run any applications that have not been signed.

Earlier in October, a group of hackers were able to port AAA titles from PlayStation 4, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed 4 and put them on torrent websites for free download. However, the stolen properties cannot be easily installed on PlayStation 4 as interested players will have to use consoles with firmware that has not been updated.
