North Korea launches short range surface-to-ship missiles off east coast, says Seoul

South Koreas military said that North Korea fired several short-range surface-to-ship missiles off its east coast on Thursday (8 June). The projectiles went around 200km (124 miles) and were launched from the North Korean town of Wonsan in Gangwon province. Through its latest test involving different types of missiles, Pyongyang might be trying to gain the upper hand in relations with South Korea and the US, a spokesman for the South Korean military said.
