Korean actor Lee Jong Suk has received a draft notice for him to enlist in the military next month.

Reports stated that the 27-year-old star needs to enlist in the Korean military on August 10, a mandatory duty for all able-bodied Korean men.

However, YG Entertainment said that "it is true that Lee Jong Suk a draft notice but it has not been finalized yet."

If his enlistment pushes through, he will undergo weeks of basic military training before serving as a public service agent.

"Lee Jong Suk feels responsible for his film 'VIP,' which is set to premiere in August, as well as his upcoming drama 'While You Were Sleeping.' He will be trying his best [to participate] in each project's promotional schedule," the agency added, according to Soompi.

"VIP" stars Lee Jong Suk, Jang Dong-gun, Park Hee-soon and Kim Myung-min and it will be released in Korea on August 24.

On the other hand, "While You Were Sleeping" will start airing on Sept. 27 and it stars the actor and Suzy, member of girl group miss A.

One source told Korean media that while the actor has already received his draft notice, he's trying to postpone his enlistment in order to promote the movie.

The enlistment news came out just three days after Lee Jong Suk was officially announced as the new honorary ambassador of Korea tourism.

Chung Chang Soo, president of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), appointed the actor as honorary ambassador at a ceremony last July 25.

He filmed eight ads that promote different places in South Korea that appeal to different vacation themes for tourists: documentary, signature, trend, adventure, fantasy, thriller, romance and mystery.

"Filming these eight commercials, I could see the beautiful facets of Korea that I didn't know neither. I will work hard to widely spread that Korea is a beautiful country," he said, Korea Herald reported.
