Malaysian police nab Kajang prisoner who made dramatic escape

Malaysian police said a prisoner who escaped from the Kajang Hospital while being treated on Thursday has been recaptured.

Kajang District Police Chief Othman Nanyan said the prisoner, , Chow Kim Liong, was arrested at a building near a construction site at Jalan PJU 10/9 Sri Damansara, Petaling Jaya on Friday.

He said: "The suspect tried to escape by jumping from a window in the building and ran for about 700 metres but was caught by personnel from the Serious Crime Investigation Department (D9) of the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters."

He also said the police found a pair of handcuffs which was cut using a machine at a construction site.

The hospital authorities had informed the police about the disappearance of the 44-year-old prisoner from the Kajang Hospital on Thursday. Immediate action was taken to recapture the prisoner.
