Joe Biden Sparks Health Concern After He Is Seen with Massive Head Wound as Former President's Struggles with Cancer Continue

Just last month, Biden was seen with a bandage on his forehead in the same spot while attending the funeral of former governor and U.S. Representative Mike Castle.

Former President Joe Biden sparked concern after he was seen massive gash on his head while greeting people in Delaware over Labor Day weekend. The 82-year-old looked frail in the new footage after he was spotted leaving a church in Rehoboth Beach with the large cut on his head.

The video, filmed by local resident Fred Karger, and first shared by Inside Edition shows the injury up close. Karger told the outlet that it looked similar to a scar left behind from skin cancer surgery. A White House spokesperson later said that Biden recently had Mohs surgery, a procedure used to remove certain types of skin cancer, including some melanomas.

Biden Has Surgery

"I was a little surprised cause it's a noticeable scar," Karger, who filmed the video, told Inside Edition. "It looks fresh, a little hair combed over the scar. It looks to me like someone who had several basal cells, skin cancers removed from his head."

Mohs surgery carefully removes thin layers of skin affected by cancer until doctors can be sure the disease hasn't spread deeper. Jill Biden, the former First Lady, had the same procedure in early 2023.

This latest health scare comes after Biden underwent surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma from his chest in 2023. He is also currently receiving treatment for stage four prostate cancer.

Just a few months ago, Biden stunned the country when he revealed that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones.

Medical doctors said it was "inconceivable" that such a serious condition could have gone unnoticed during his four years in the White House.

Doctors gave his cancer a Gleason score of 9 and a Grade Group of 5 — one of the most advanced stages of the fast-moving disease. The diagnosis came weeks after a small nodule was detected on his prostate.

Several top doctors questioned how such a late-stage cancer wasn't detected earlier, especially since routine blood tests for men over 50 can often identify it before it spreads.

In February 2024, Biden's longtime doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, declared him "fit to serve" following a routine examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, when Biden was still the presumptive Democratic nominee.

But after news broke about his prostate cancer diagnosis, critics accused Biden's former administration and those closest to him of deliberately hiding signs of both his physical and cognitive decline from the public.

For now, the former president is continuing with treatment as he manages his health challenges.
