G-Dragon to release solo album in 4 years; Taeyang to follow suit

G-Dragon, leader of Korean boy band Big Bang, will be making his solo comeback early next month.

YG Entertainment posted today a teaser photo of G-Dragon with the words Kwon Ji Yong, which is the singer's real name. The agency said G-Dragon will be releasing his new solo album on June 8.

A day earlier, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk posted a photo of G-Dragon and Taeyang on his Instagram account with the caption "MY FAMILY. MY BROTHER. MY FRIEND. Doing the last correction for recording. All the work ends today. Early June no matter what. Past 17 years with them. 17 more years to be with them. Then I'll be retired. Way to go GD. The next will be Taeyang," according to the YG blog.

It's been four years since G-Dragon released a solo album. His first solo album was "Heartbreaker" in 2009 followed by "One of a Kind" in 2012 and "Coup d'etat" in 2013.

After G-Dragon releases his new album, Taeyang will follow suit with his own.

G-Dragon will have his solo world tour "ACT III, M.O.T.T.E." He will kick off the tour on June 10 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in June.

From Korea, he will tour Macao, Singapore and, Bangkok in Asia; Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Miami, New York and Toronto in North America; Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Oakland in Oceania; and Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo in Japan.

On the other hand, Taeyang will hold his first Japan stadium tour "Sol Japan Stadium Live 2017" consisting of four shows in two Japanese cities that are expected to draw 140,000 fans.

Taeyang released his last solo album "Rise" in June 2014 that included the tracks "Eyes, Nose, Lips" and "Ringa Linga."

Big Bang started their "Big Bang Special Event 2017" in Japan on May 27 at the Fukuoka Yafuoku Dome and on May 30 and 31 at the Tokyo Dome. They will hold the last event on June 3 and 4 at the Osaka Kyocera Dome.
