Overview

France played the opening match of the Euro 2016 as the host nation. They played against Romania and managed to seal a 2-1 victory over them in the first match. Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud gave them a lead in the 57th minute.

Bogdan Stancu scored from the spot kick to equalise the score for Romania in the 65th minute. However, Dimitri Payet who stole the headline as the West Ham United midfielder's 89th minute powerful striker sealed the match for France.

Meanwhile, Albania come into this fixture after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Switzerland in their first match of the European championship. Fabian Schar's second half goal was the difference between the two sides in the end as Switzerland sealed three points.
